SUMÁRIO
Esta tese teve o propósito de investigar e delinear a pedagogia da flauta transversal desenvolvida por Odette Ernest Dias, entre os anos de 1974 a 1994, período em que atuou como docente da Universidade de Brasília. Nome de relevância para a história artístico-pedagógica da flauta transversal no Brasil, ela exerceu uma influência expressiva sobre o comportamento de seus alunos, tornando-os profissionais caracterizados pela diversidade, enquanto flautistas, e pela comunhão de sentimentos, linha de pensamento e atuação, enquanto professores.
Foi desenvolvida em quatro capítulos: I. Objetivos e metodologia; II. Fundamentação teórica; III. Odette: percurso e discurso; IV. Discursos dos ex-alunos. Em substituição à tradicional conclusão, apresento meu Discurso aberto.
A pesquisa me proporcionou uma reflexão intensa sobre uma pedagogia criticada por não ensinar “técnica pura”. Procurei resgatar e formalizar informações relevantes sobre um processo de educação em constantes transformações e mutações, centrado no indivíduo, e em suas origens. Constatei uma perspectiva pedagógica composta por respeito, flexibilidade, expressão própria, emoção, provocação, motivação, integridade com o aluno, diálogo, humildade, tolerância, tato pedagógico, interação com contexto, e incentivo ao questionamento, componentes que, além de marcantes na vida de seus ex-alunos, estão sendo transmitidos, através deles, às novas gerações de flautistas.
Para desenvolvê-la contei com o apoio incondicional de Odette — formalizado através de cartas, muitas conversas e uma entrevista; também houve o total apoio de ex-alunos seus — manifestado através de e-mails, contatos pessoais e entrevistas. Além disso, fundamentei-me em autores da área de Educação, Educação Musical e Ciências Sociais, para que fosse estabelecido o diálogo entre os vários discursos recolhidos.

ABSTRACT
The aim of the present thesis was to investigate and outline the flute pedagogy developed by Odette Ernest Dias between 1974 and 1994, when she taught at the Universidade de Brasília. An important figure in the artistic-pedagogical history of Brazilian flute performance, Odette had a marked influence on the behavior of her students, who were characterized by their diversity as flautists and by their communion of feelings, thought processes, and activity as teachers.
This thesis comprises four chapters: I. Objectives and methodology; II. Theoretical bases; III. Odette: trajectory and discourse; and IV. Discourses of former students. As a substitute to the traditional conclusion, I present an Open Discourse.
The research process allowed for an intense reflection on a pedagogical approach criticized for not teaching “pure technique.” I attempted to retrieve and formalize relevant information on an educational process under constant transformation and mutation, centered on the individual and his or her origins. I have encountered a pedagogical perspective based on respect, flexibility, self expression, emotion, provocation, motivation, integrity with the students, dialogue, humility, tolerance, pedagogical tact, interaction with context, and encouragement to questioning, components that, in addition to their significance to the life of her former students, are being transmitted, through them, to the new generations of flutists.
While developing this thesis, I received the unconditional support of Odette herself — in the form of letters, frequent conversations, and an interview. I also received complete support from former students — through e-mail correspondence, personal contact, and interviews. In addition, my work was based on literature in the fields of Education, Musical Education, and the Social Sciences, as an attempt to establish a dialog between the various discourses I collected.
